Healthcare sector continues to employ a large number of unskilled people, mainly due to non-availability of trained personnel across the country. These people have to assume responsibility for care delivery to patients; but their lack of formal training poses a risk to patients and wastes resources, pushing up the cost of care. This also leads to a cumulative pool of people, mostly from marginalised sections in rural and semi-urban areas, working under unsatisfactory job conditions and unstable career prospects.
